Jingfei Zuo

Welcome to therapy! People encounter different obstacles in their lives, some are big, some are small. It is good for us to talk to a professional clinician, pay attention to our mood and thoughts, and invest time to discover more about ourselves as human beings, and the deeper meaning behind things happening in our life. I can be there to listen, accompany you, and guide you to discover more options and different perspectives in your life. I hope through the counseling sessions, my client can get empowered and feel validated.
I am currently in the last year of my master's education. I was born and raised in China and received my education in different cities. I pursued my undergraduate in California and came to New York due to my passion for mental health counseling. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet different individuals’ needs. Primarily, I incorporate CBT, Existentialism, and Psychodynamic approaches. In the past, I have worked with families, children, and younger adults. I also have an educational background in cross-cultural counseling and LGBTQ+ Affirmative counseling. I did 2 years of volunteer jobs in Chinese NGOs to serve the LGBTQ+ community regarding topics such as internalized homophobia, intimate relationships, gender dysphoria, coming out, and so on. I am willing to discuss these topics with you in the counseling sessions.
As a person who has lived in various places and different cultures, I know deeply how difficult it sometimes could be to adjust to a new environment and say goodbye to the past. Personally, I care about people’s identities and relationships. Identity can be about one’s gender and sexual orientation, as well as their social identity such as student, or their identity in their relationships, such as partner or daughter. I care about how different identities and relationships can shape, limit, or empower oneself. I also love animals and pets and believe animal therapy is an excellent way to help people. I am a bilingual counselor who is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
Education Background:
The University of California, Los Angeles

Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness
LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services Certificate
