Ching-wen (May) Sun

During the internship at mental health centers, Ching-wen saw that people sometimes struggle with challenges and negative emotions such as lost, stress, depression, anxiety etc., and it is important to validate them. Therapy would be a safe space for people to talk about their worries, in-depth thoughts and feelings without judgment. She had experience with clients with depression and anxiety, as well as other mental health problems. She also researched on the emotional pattern and intervention for individuals with depression.
Ching-wen applies an integrative approach to psychotherapy. She would like to meet where the clients are and apply proper approaches according to clients’ expectations and goals of the therapy. She values the uniqueness of each individual and believes that there is no panacea treatment for everyone. She also believes that all feelings matter, no matter how trivial the situation is. She is aimed to create a genuine, empathetic and supportive atmosphere in the therapy, so that she can effectively assist the clients to explore themselves, enhance personal growth, and deal with their challenges adaptively in their life.
Ching-wen is now pursuing her master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at New York University. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology at East China Normal University in Shanghai, China. She is bilingual in both Mandarin and English. Due to her background in Taiwan, her experience in China and the US, she emphasizes cultural sensitivity and respects individuals from different backgrounds. She would be happy to accompany the clients during their journey to a more fulfilled life.
