Brian Li

There are countless ways to live a life. I am genuinely curious to learn how you live yours, and to understand you as a person and the issues you want to address. I enjoy working clients who are interested learning more about themselves, and I am here to help you uncover the unnoticed, see the unseen, and voice the spoken. I value the therapeutic alliance built along our way and believe in its power in making changes happen.
Therapy is all for you. There is not a single right way to benefit from therapy, and you are invited to try, explore, and feel what works best for you. I incorporate different approaches such as psychodynamic approach and relational approach. I am also trauma-informed and strive to create a safe and supportive space that respects your own pace, especially when we revisit adverse past experiences. I understand that taking the step towards change is not easy, and I am here to walk with you to the place when you feel comfortable and ready.
Currently finishing up his master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at NYU, Brian is an intern therapist working under the supervision of Sharon Tai, LMHC. With a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Wisconsin, Brian worked as a Research Assistant, studying motivation and academic & career choices of young adults and young professionals, which provides him with insight into the complexities behind important decisions and life transitions. Having lived in both China and the US, Brian also has developed a transcultural lens that helps him work with individual from various backgrounds. Additionally, Brian also takes advantage of his language abilities and provides therapy for individuals who feel more fully expressed bilingually.
