I consider it a privilege to partner with clients to work towards overcoming obstacles in their lives. Following the principles of humanistic psychology, I believe that therapy should include the most basic principles of empathy, understanding, and compassion in order to help facilitate real change in my clients.  I have a psychodynamic background, meaning that I believe childhood experiences are important in influencing who you are as an adult and how you cope with stress or symptoms of anxiety and depression. In addition, I work by looking for attachment styles and relational patterns in order to help better improve your relationships in general. For instance, your past experiences influence how you are and how you see others in your current relationships.  My role as a therapist is to help you become aware of your role in relationships and improve your satisfaction in them. Along with a psychodynamic framework, I utilize integrative approaches, incorporating cognitive behavioral techniques and mindfulness skills with psychodynamic and relational modalities. My style of therapy aims to not only reduce your current distress, but to also improve your overall satisfaction in life, relationships, and your general well-being for the long-term... READ MORE

Dr. Mary Her

The thought of seeking therapy can be quite daunting even if we believe it helps. The awkwardness of reaching out to a stranger may be the last thing we want to do. Majority of us make judgments from the second we encounter others based on appearance and character. If these uncertainties cross your mind, know that you are not alone.

Mary Her, Psy.D. believes in the foundations of therapeutic trust, empathy, respect, safety, and acknowledgement with a good challenge and guidance through an unforgettable journey. Her drive is to guide individuals in recognizing greater understanding and finding relief in oneself without judgment—resolving through a deeper level of underlying causes while empowering self-control.

Dr. Her has received her M.A. and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University of Fresno, CA.

I pursued my education in mental health after learning of the difference it can make in individual’s lives. I’ve witnessed the destruction that a mind in turmoil can bring to itself, and those around it, and I’ve seen the change and resilience that can be fostered in those that are shown the proper attention and care. Whether the cause of this turmoil is something transient and fleeting, or pervasive and long lasting, a difference can be made in those who wish to see improvement.

Much of my training and education was obtained through Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Services, however my pursuit of this knowledge traces back farther in my life. Through Fordham University I was able to earn my Masters of Social Work, and have since become a Licensed Master of Social Work with New York State.  I’ve learned a myriad of approaches to the therapeutic process, and have recognized the value of their intersection and integration to each client’s unique journey through their own mind....  READ MORE
