Jason Alicea, MA, MHC-LP

Jason is a post Master’s resident Psychotherapist at Herald Square Psychology. Jason completed his undergraduate studies at New York University majoring in Psychology and a concentration in Microexpressions. After graduating from NYU he worked with Dr. Tessa West in her human relationships lab studying group persuasion and motivation. He also worked in Dr. Shabnam Javdani’s lab working to identify better assessments practices for at risk youth in New York City. Jason continued to graduate studies earning his M.A. in counseling for Mental Health and Wellness at NYU. There he studied with Dr. Mary Katherine Boncher who specializes in relational psychotherapy to cultivate an attachment theory approach to clinical therapy. He also mentored under Dr. Anil Chacko who specialized in CBT and working with Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.
Jason is a relational therapist. A therapeutic approach believes in mutually satisfying relationships with others is necessary for one's emotional well-being. The work is done by being mindful of the therapeutic relationship with you, the client, and using opportunities to support positive change in the forming and sustaining of quality relationships.
Having a strong relationship background Jason has a passion for working with couples. As a former collegiate athlete he also enjoys working with college students looking to optimize their performance while juggling the demands of collegiate sports.
